When Dunedin built its new junior high school in 1957, it was named Dunedin Highland Junior High (now DHMS) in homage to the city's Scottish heritage.

Dunedin Highland Middle School is located in Dunedin, Florida. DHMS embraced the Scottish heritage of the city over 65 years ago and became widely known for having an outstanding performing arts program that incorporated the Scottish Arts.
